NOTICE OF TRAFFIC RESTRICTION
EXPECT DELAYS
Where: U.S. 30 between Joliet Street & US 41
Date: Friday October 7, 2016 and Monday October 10, 2016
Time: 8:30AM – 4:00PM
Purpose: Tree Removal, Clean-up, and Landscaping Project
On Friday, October 7 and Monday October 10, 2016, work will begin on removal of the overgrowth of trees and other vegetation that has grown on the sides of the highway and the slopes of the Norfolk Southern RR viaduct over the years. In consideration of the SAFETY of motorists using the highway and the crews that will be performing the work, we will be stopping traffic on US 30 intermittently throughout the tree removal process. We do not expect these stoppages to be longer than about 3-4 minutes in duration, however, traffic will be stopped multiple times throughout the 2-day period.
The Schererville Public Works Department and our contractor ask four things of the motoring public as we undertake this project:
- Use alternate routes whenever possible during the 2-day project;
- SLOW DOWN and be cautious when traveling the work zone;
- Give workers as much room to work as possible to safely complete the task; and
- Be patient when required to stop.
