The following is a list of current major roadwork or road closures in Schererville. Information is posted as it is provided to us. Please check with Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) to check the status of US Highway 30 and US Highway 41.

Lane Closures:

Where: US30 at Dyer Ditch Bridge
When: Tentatively scheduled to begin in May 2025
Why: Sidewalk repairs along the bridge

INDOT has informed us that there will be lane restrictions on US30 at the Dyer Ditch Bridge for sidewalk repair work. Both east & west bound right lanes will be closed for the work. The project is tentatively scheduled to begin in May 2025. Work is expected to last two to three days for each direction.

Restrictions expected to be in place from 6am - 3pm each day.

NIPSCO is improving its electric system's reliability, resiliency, and safety through planned electrical upgrade and expansion projects across its service area. As a part of this plan on January 6, 2025, the company will start work on 91st Avenue, between Burr Street and Chase Street to upgrade the existing electric utility poles and wire along that corridor. To ensure the safety of onsite crew members and local residents there will be intermittent road closures in place between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday. 

Signage will be placed, and the recommended detour route is Burr Street, RT 30, and W 87th Avenue/Whitcomb Street. This work is expected to last through the end of March, please drive with caution around any construction zone and follow the directions of posted signage and onsite flaggers.   

NIPSCO would like to thank residents for their patience as this important upgrade is being completed and will continue to work with local officials to minimize community impact throughout the duration of the planned work.
