Fire Chief Robert Patterson

Chief Patterson was appointed to the role of Fire Chief in February 2018. He previously served as Deputy Chief since December 2004. Prior to his appointment to the Schererville Fire Department, he served on the Dyer Volunteer Fire Department from 1991 – 1996.

Deputy Chief Meyer was appointed in March 2018. Deputy Chief Meyer oversees the EMS Division and assists with running the day to day operation of the department and many other administrative duties.

Battalion Chief Niemiec was promoted to his position in January of 2010. He is in charge of the Gold Shift (third turn). Chief Niemiec is the main contact person for the town fire Inspections.

Battalion Chief Waterstraat was promoted to his position in February of 2015. He is in charge of the Red Shift (second turn). Prior to working for Schererville, he was with the United States Army.

Battalion Chief Konicek was promoted to his position in January 2025 . He is in charge of the Black Shift (first turn).
Captain Natalie Ferrantella

Captain Ferrantella was promoted to her position in October 2021. She works Gold Shift (third turn).

Captain Valentino Trevino

Captain Trevino was promoted to his position in July 2023. He works the Black Shift (first turn).
