Notice to Schererville Residents
The Schererville Town Dump, located at the Schererville Public Works Department, will be closed effective Sept 3, 2024 until approximately Mid December 2024.
Upgrades to the Public Works facility include a newly constructed Town Dump, modifications to the parking lot, electrical and lighting, storm water infrastructure along with new fencing and gates. These improvements are necessitated by the future expansion of Kennedy Ave and are part of Phase 2 of the project.
Residents are encouraged to use the Republic Services Transfer Station, located at 1155 Birch Ave, 2 blocks East of the intersection of US 41 at 65th Avenue. This is not a free of charge facility and you will be required to pay based upon the weight of your load.
Tire recycling disposal will also not be accepted at Schererville Public Works during site improvements. Additional Lake County Solid Waste Management District tire recycling disposal locations can be found at the following web address:

Site improvements should be completed by Mid December of 2024 and we will notify residents upon the completion of this work as well as the opening of the dump facility and tire disposal site.
