Notice of Nipsco Utility Work
Where: Intersection of 91st Street @ Burr Street to 91st Street @ Clark Road in Schererville and then into Merrillville and Crown Point along 91st Street and 93rd Ave
When: September 3, 2024-October 31, 2024 7:00AM-5:00PM Monday-Friday
Why: Electrical system modernization
Beginning September 3, 2024 NIPSCO will continue replacing and upgrading the existing electrical wires and utility poles in Schererville between 91st & Burr St. and 91st & Clark Rd. The project will continue into Merrillville and Crown Point along 91st and 93rd Avenues.
The upgrade includes replacing and upgrading 58 utility poles and 3 miles of distribution line. This system modernization project will provide increased reliability of your service for years to come and less future maintenance work in your neighborhood. NIPSCO will be performing this work and construction will take place Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. All construction schedules are dependent on weather.
Residents should exercise caution when driving around work zones and should follow the direction of traffic signs and on-site crews. Temporary road closures and restrictions will occur with this project. Signs will be posted ahead of time and detour routes will be in place.
NIPSCO appreciates the patience of the community and will continue to work with the Schererville officials to minimize customer impact as work is underway.
