Chief David Dowling is proud to announce a partnership this Thanksgiving season between the Schererville Police Department and Campagna Academy. Schererville Police Department will be collecting non-perishable food items, gift cards, and fabric shopping bags to assist Campagna Academy's effort to create Thanksgiving Gift Bags for the children and families that they service. Items can be dropped off in the lobby of the Schererville Police Department through November 10, 2017. The police department lobby is open 24/7. Dowling said, "No food donation is too small. Even the smallest gesture helps our holiday season for Campagna Academy."
Thanksgiving themed non-perishable food items include breakfast bars, granola bars, cereal, boxed/instant potatoes, browning mix, chicken or turkey broth, canned cranberries & vegetables, cake mix, cookie mix, frosting, gravy mix, Jell-O, mac&cheese, muffin/bread mixes, pie filling, pie crust, pudding mix, salad dressing, garlic powder or salt, onion powder, salt&pepper shakers, stuffing, and vegetable oil.
Dowling, who serves on the Board of Directors said, "For over 70 years, Campagna Academy has been committed to children, youth, and family in our community. They provide an immeasurable value to the people, predominantly children & youth, that they service. Without partnerships such as ours, Campagna cannot continue to do their work effectively."
