Update 8/4/23: Precautionary boil water advisory has been lifted. Public Works to deliver door hangers to affected homes.
Precautionary Boil Water Advisory August 1, 2023 On August 1st, 2023 at approximately 1:00pm, a 4th water main break occurred on Iroquois Road. Due to conditions of the water main, it was deemed necessary to replace multiple portions of water main. Under rules set forth by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, the Schererville Water Department is required to issue a PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER ADVISORY for human and animal consumption until testing is completed and found to be free of contaminants. We anticipate receiving passing sample results as early as Friday August 4,, 2023. The affected areas include those located on Iroquois Road, Lincolnwood Avenue and Hickory Place. If you did not lose water pressure during the repair then the boil advisory does not apply. Water used for human and animal consumption should be brought to a hard boil for 5 minutes before using. Please check social media or local newspapers for updates to this advisory. Again, this is a precautionary measure. We have no reason to believe there has been any contamination to your water supply.
